Who Should Attend: Operators, Supervisors, Safety Representatives

 

Pre-Requisites:
An understanding of the Principles of Powered Hoists would be an advantage

 

Course Objectives:
  • Operate hoists safely in accordance with manufacture’s guidelines
  • Carry out basic checks to ensure safe operation
  • Select correct lifting gear
  • Demonstrate safe slinging methods

 

Course Outline:
  • Basic Health & safety 1974 act, LOLER & PUWER 1998 regs
  • Legislation affecting power operated hoists & lifting equipment.
  • Legislation affecting power operated hoists & lifting equipment.
  • Select the correct lifting gear (slings, shackles, eyebolts etc)
  • Safe working loads & sling angles
  • Basic check of hoist & lifting gear prior to use and when in use
  • Supporting structures: runway beams, jib cranes, mobile gantries
  • Safe system of work, Method & Risk Assesment

RSS Training & Site Safety Books Supplied, The course consists of Prepared Lectures, Video presentations and practical demonstrations. Information is based on LEEA Code of Practice, Manufactures guidance, HSE Guidance PM55. BS5744: BS7121, Course consist of Practical & Theory Content
