Who Should Attend: All Employees involved in manual handling operation

 

Pre-Requisites:
The course is not recommended for Employees with musculoskeletal disorders

 

Aims:
The course aims to provide delegates with sufficient knowledge to safely lift and handle loads as individuals and as a team.

 

Course Objectives:
  • Understand legal requirements, H&S 1974 act, LOLER & PUWER 1998 Regs.
  • Be aware of injuries sustained from poor manual handling
  • Use safe methods of lifting loads & Transporting of Goods, Hazard observation

 

Course Outline:
  • The manual handling regulations 1992
  • Employees duties
  • Assessment of risk in manual handlimg operations
  • Mechanical assisstance for manual handling operations
  • Team handling
  • Causes of injury from manual handling
  • Avoiding injury from manual handling
  • Kinetic handling

 

Teaching Methods:
The course consists of a series of prepared talks supported by Video/DVD. Course delegates will be encouraged to participate in discussions and practical demonstrations.

 

Assessment:
Multi-choice questions papers based on information learnt during the session.
